1 Story from Experience
There’s been a lot of talk about the online streaming landscape recently. All the Hollywood writers are picketing the Streaming Services saying they want protection from AI taking over their jobs. As AI gets better and better exponentially faster, more and more industry employees are going to start picketing in the same way. Companies are finding ways to cut costs, record inflation is affecting everyone’s bottom line.
We are also at an age where choice in what we want to watch is almost infinite. The age of information brought about by the Internet is transforming into the Age of Automation. Back in our childhoods, the only way to enjoy our favorite shows was to plop down Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal in front of our TV and catch up on the weekly installment of our favorite cartoon. Heaven forbid we’d miss a week, then we would never see that episode till it happen to come on a rerun months later.
There was an anticipation that made watching those Saturday morning cartoons more enjoyable. Now the only impediment to seeing the next episode is waiting the 20 seconds till it automatically continues on, or you don’t even have to wait that long, just click the next episode button. Our hard earned patience is shortened each time we hit that button. Instant Gratification is hard thing to let go of, although much of our Society needs to, desperately. As AI gets better, our personal work needs to get more creative, it’s the only advantage we have against the coming wave of AI. It’s the only work us Humans are truly built for, creating things.
2 Ideas from Me
Online Communities are hard to manage. They are living, breathing things that most people think can be automated, but in reality, the can’t. Vision is needed and people grapple onto that vision and have a very large awareness if they feel the leaders of the community are not aligned with the vision of why they joined in the first place, and are happy to spend time somewhere else, very fast. In Person Communities alleviate this feeling a bit because the perceived value is greater due to being in the presence of other humans, one would feel that connection and bond. My goal is to provide such a community like that one day, or partner with someone who did get it right and help them grow the Idea. If anyone is building that, let me know and I’ll try my hardest to get that to come to fruition.
If a problem exists in your life, chances are it’s happened to someone else before and they’ve solved it. Most problems that occur, the how is most always apparent, it’s the motivation to implement the solution that poses the biggest threat. If you have an unlimited amount of motivation, you could solve any problem this world has, but most of us would rather forget the problem and go watch Netflix, way easier. I keep thinking that if I truly had someone in my corner that was unfailingly motivating to me, then I could accomplish miracles. Part of that is built into this newsletter, and I will try to build that into the community as best as I can…as long as I don’t lose the motivation to do so…
