The Science and Art of Setting Yourself Up for Success
📣 Curious Quote from the Author
Mentorship, I've learned, is more than guidance; it's a nurturing process that enhances our mental and emotional well-being by sharing professional wisdom and encouragement. It's this holistic approach that makes mentorship a key factor in workplace success.
Mentorship nurtures our mental and emotional well-being, enriching our professional lives through shared experiences, expertise, and encouragement. That's why mentorship helps us become more successful at work.
This impact is mirrored in the experiences of leading companies and business figures. Employees engaged in mentoring programs are promoted five times more often than those without a mentor. Serving as a mentor also correlates with career advancement-those who serve as a mentor are six times more likely to be promoted to a higher position.
📚 Cognition of the Book’s Big Idea:
A mentor-mentee relationship is a potent tool for promoting both professional and personal development since it provides mutual learning, support, and advice. In order to find and cultivate a successful mentoring, you must create a compelling story about yourself, approach possible mentors head-on, and make a concerted effort to establish boundaries, foster open communication, and establish trust as the relationship moves through its several phases.
🛠️Fixing the Tech Industry
Mentorship is a method that our industry does not indulge in, much to our dismay. If everyone had a mentor and also mentored others, we would all have be less anxious and lonely career. They say that you should always have a mentor 10 years farther along than you are in your career and that you should in turn be a mentor to someone 10 years younger than you as well. This cycle allows for everyone to be taken care of and guided to go the right places they should be.
