It happens daily, as a Parent of 3 under 14, I hear that dreaded phrase constantly because I work from Home. “Dad! I’m so bored"!
And I always respond the same way: “Me Too, dear, Me Too”
Boredom is an interesting trait. At first glance, you would think it is a bad trait to have. But what it really does is let you know that you were meant to be doing something else. Sometimes we have to do the Boring things, like learn Multiplication tables or Memorize the Sections of a Cell, but sometimes we get bored with even stuff we normally find fun to do.
Just look at everyone who’s ever browsed social media at work. We work, get bored and try and lose ourselves in some sorta subpar human connection engine that is social media, while we sit in our cubicle prison till a new email comes in.
But some of the best Ideas I’ve come up with were when I was bored. It’s like my brain was trying to get me to make up something brilliant because I was wasting away, and Boredom literally feels like I’m dying most days, what about for you, does it feel like that for you?
Get inspired to do something when your Bored, and if you can’t, go outside take a walk, change you’re scenery. You’d be surprised how much is out there once you start walking towards it instead of hiding in your cubicle.
