Consistency comes from your Practiced Rituals
Doing what you say you're going to do is Paramount
People come to me and ask all the time: How do I stay consistent when my brain never wants me too?
This has been a problem since the beginning of time. Men get distracted. How you know you are distracted is there usually a feeling that you are ignoring. It’s a feeling of malaise and you know what the right thing is, and you’re not doing it. Call it a conscience, call it something looking out for future you, whatever it might be, it’s there for a reason.
One of the best pieces of advice I can give someone that is easily distracted is to develop one habit, just one, in the area you need to change the most. Find the Habit that if you developed it, it would change your life for the better. It could be something at work, something at home, something about your health. Then just make it a daily habit. Do everything in your power to make it happen everyday. Get an accountability partner, pay for a coach, ask a friend to help text you when they know you haven’t done it already. Whatever the habit may be, don’t break it. Try for 30 days, then 90 days, then a Year, then keep going! If you miss a day, that’s ok, but never miss two days in a row.
Once you’ve locked in on that one habit, you’ll find more that will help you change for the better, and you’ll find it way easier to do more. Once you learn how to develop the habit the first time, the second time gets easier., and the third and so on.
