Developing an Identity Based Habit
It's way easier than just trying to "Grind Through the Hard Stuff"
Take an outcome you want for yourself. Maybe it’s to lose a lot of weight, maybe it’s to build your business to a certain revenue. Maybe it’s find a girlfriend, whatever your outcome is, you want to find the Habit that will get you the closest to what you want. Then you just do the habit daily. Consistency is key, so if you forget to do it one day, it’s fine, just don’t forget to do it the next day, never go 2 days without doing the habit.
Once you start the habit, your identity starts to change, you see yourself able to do it more and more often, until one day, you’ve achieved your goal! But the habit needs to directly related to the outcome. Want a girlfriend? Well then you need to go on more dates, so the habit becomes talking to more girls whenever you can. Want to get buff? A consistent Gym habit is the obvious answer.
We usually overcomplicate things, every outcome usually has one habit that can be cultivated that will lead directly to the outcome you desire. So don’t let indecision get in the way, as Nike would say: “Just Do It”
