“Sometimes, the only way to find what we truly want is to let go of what we currently have.” -John P. Strelecky (The Why Cafe)
I have no problem letting go of things. By nature, I love encountering new things. New places, new foods, new people. But there are certain things that I default too when I’m scared or when I’m worried. Those never change, those are ingrained in my soul. Like eating a sugary treat when I’m sad or playing Video Games and ignoring the rest of the world when I’m angry. It’s an interesting dichotomy, I love novelty so much, but when it comes to things I’m uncomfortable with, I default in to less than satisfying urges.
But sometimes I can channel that anger into working harder at the gym, or by knowing that when I get cut off while driving that they are just having a hard day like I always do. Sure they might be just a jerk, but the way I think about it is I would like to be forgiven for my mistakes, so I should forgive others who make mistakes just like I do.
Either way, difficulty in life is an opportunity. It’s a opportunity to become kind and understanding, but it could also be an opportunity to be mad at the world for putting you in this predicament. You can't reject the consequences of other people’s action that affect you, but you defintely, eventually can change how you feel about it.
