The Brain is powerful thing. If you fall into the cycle of overthinking and rumination, it can take control of your mind. You can’t solve your own problems in this state. There’s no interrupt that just magically occurs that can make it stop. You must take action for it to stop. You need to go do something else, focus on something else, talk to someone else.
If you are finding yourself falling down this route, try asking for help, or being a helpful to somebody. That will be the interrupt you need to get your brain and mind to finally focus in a different direction.
