There’s an interesting thing happening to a lot of Social Networks as of late. They are failing to grab engagement. If they can’t show they aren’t primarily made up of bots, advertising revenue will tank, and with enough months of that trend, it’s basically over for them and their business model.

But one thing that will never be over is your relationship with the people you interact with, as long as it’s on your own platform. Email, Blog or Podcast. Pick one and be diligent developing it, even if every social media network on the face of the planet fails. The reasoning behind this is you control what you put out and who sees it, 100%. Any other social media may have the potential for big reach, but you do not control who they send it to. Autonomy is the name of the game here.

So own your own piece of the internet, specific to you and you alone. It will set you up for the success the rest of your life.
