Consistency built the world, but all major inventions of the 20th century wouldn’t have been possible without serendipity. You have 3 types of people in this world: Technicians, Managers, and Entrepreneurs. Technicians and Managers need Consistency and Entrepreneurs feed off uncertainty and risk.
So you got to ask yourself, what role do you play at work? Are you wanting to help people? Are you wanting to just fix things? Are you the mad scientist who creates things and brings them to life in your basement? Whatever you’re preference is, the only way to excel at what you do is to lean into who you are. A lot of the time we think we can be all 3, but we secretly complain when we have to do the other 2.
So the choice is to pick one and live it, Trying to be all 3 all the time will leave you with an identity crisis. You’re already overworked because you’re a Full-Stack (Insert Tech Occupation here), don’t try to have a Full-Stack Identity at Home also.
Until Tomorrow,
