Helping Others reach their Potential will Help you Reach Yours
So do something for someone else today
It’s Natural Human Behavior to look out for oneself and nobody else. We all do selfish things, who else is looking out for us? If we needed food 1000 years ago, we’d have to hunt for it or starve. It became a biological function. Dogs are very territorial while they are eating, not willing share and will snap at others who try to take their food away.
But you’ll find the more you center yourself on helping others to reach their potential, two things will happen. You will begin to understand from their perspective on what it’s like to be them, walk a mile in someone’s shoes you may say, and you’ll gain a greater empathy for who they are and what they can become. Secondly, you will also benefit from the experience because you are sharing that experience with someone else, and you both benefit together. What was once a selfish act of fending for oneself, you become a small tribe in unity, and you both benefit from each others understanding and empathy.
So if you see somewhere you can help someone lower in status than you in your work, try helping them. You never know how much you made that person’s day or month or even year.
