“There’s one thing that is guaranteed to increase your feelings of control over your life: a bias toward action.” -Mel Robbins (The 5 Second Rule)

Feelings about your life aren’t always helpful. Sometimes they conflict with what we know we have to do and what we actually end up doing. Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you shouldn’t do a simple thing, but then rebellious did it anyway, because you wanted to rebel? That was a time where you decided, subconsciously, that it was better to try the thing rather than be afraid of trying the thing.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but most of our decisions should follow this pattern if we want our lives to amount to much. We can’t be afraid to try new things, act on feelings, and not just overthink everything. Our brain can be like an overprotective parent sometimes, if we never let ourselves explore and try new things, then our growth diminishes, our brain get stuck in a loop of overthinking everything and we start pulling away from experiences that would benefit us.

If you are overthinking about doing something, and the decision is a relatively simple one, it really doesn’t matter what you choose, so choose and get it over with. You’ll feel much better afterwards, trust me.
