Many of us hold onto our past like it’s the last thing we have. It’s not. You have your entire future in front of you. If you hold on to the past too tightly, it’ll act as a weight around your neck. You’ll feel like it’s the only thing that makes you, well, you. And while there’s some truth to that, the experiences are the only thing you should take with you; not the guilt, not the pain, and definitely not the negativity. That’s a recipe for disaster, having to always carry that with you.
If you are having trouble in your life moving on, and can’t seem to figure out why you aren’t successful yet, it’s probably the weight of those past decisions determining your future outcomes.
So let’s try this, as Marie Kondo suggests: “Attachment to the past and fears concerning the future not only govern the way you select the things you own but also represent the criteria by which you make choices in every aspect of your life, including your relationships with people and your job….
”If your past doesn’t spark joy, thank it for its service, and move on”
