Noncomformity Built Everything of Value in this World
So never follow the status quo if you want to make a difference
When Steve Jobs and his Team invented the Iphone, there were many shifts in thinking that had to happen. The most popular phones at the time had Tactile Physical Keyboards, A Stylus, and the screens were more like a monitor into the phone than part of the device itself.
He saw what a phone “could” be. He started from a vision where the phone became an extension of yourself, and not just another device in your pocket. From the full touch screen interface, to unexpectantly later creating an App Store which would change the face of software as we know it, Steve did what he intuitively felt right. Sure it didn’t all work perfectly from the beginning, but the vision is what everyone grappled onto, and changed computing again just like they did when they released the Apple 1 and Macintosh.
If you want to do something worth doing, you need to create something that can start a movement. The problem is, since most things have been done before, if you build things the way they’ve always been built, then you won’t create anything of significance.
Value is perceived from wonder and awe. Being different is the only way to make an impact.
