56 men signed the Declaration of Independence. The Youngest was Edward Rutledge (26) and the Oldest was Ben Franklin (70). By doing so they put a target on their backs, made their families outlaws and started what is one of the greatest stories ever told on Earth. By signing that piece of paper, they were declaring to the world that they would die for the rights and privileges that were denied them by an incumbent and greedy empire.
As you are off work today (hopefully), take a moment to reflect on what those founding fathers did and how you have benefitted from it, even if you’re not in the US. Don’t think about current politics or whatever insignificant thing is on the news, but think about the direct impact of what you are able to do today because of those 56 people.
Now if you’re thinking about changing something in your Career or outright signing your own Declaration of Independence, know that big changes lead to bigger rewards, depending how much you’re willing to sacrifice along the way. But even if you fail, know that there’s always hope that you can start over again, unlike the 56 men who permanently resigned their lives that day for the hope of a better tomorrow.
Until Tomorrow,
