The Art of Community

and why we've lost a lot of it with Smartphones

Community is important. Who we spend time around becomes who we are. They say your personality is the add sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with. If you randomly pick those 5 people, and they are pretty stupid, petty and negative type people, then more than likely you’ll end up that way too.

With the advent of smartphones however, we spend less time together, and more time with complete strangers, sometimes arguing with them online and sometimes trying to connect with them through the content they produce. It's not as great a way as connecting in real life with others.

This is why it’s very important to choose the people who hang around as people who aspire and succeed. Changing your life starts with changing your environment and community. Yes, it’s hard to start over from scratch, but it’s incredibly important to do so if you want to change for the better.
