If you don’t know who Marc Andreesen is, he's a silicon valley billionaire VC who co-founded Netscape and was an early investor in companies like Twitter, Facebook and Skype.
He recently release an article he called "The Techno-Optimist Manifesto" which can be read in it’s entirety here: https://a16z.com/the-techno-optimist-manifesto/
If you love Tech, I suggest you read it, it has a lot descriptive language about our personalities and about the way us Techies see the world, usually through the lens using Technology to make a better the world a better place.
Tech is a lucrative industry to be in, but it can also be a fickle mistress. Tech Hate is a very real thing. We try hard everyday to earn our paycheck as Techie Cowboys corralling our “Cattle”, or the Servers, Apps and Websites of the world that is increasingly relying on to go about their daily lives.
But is Tech truly the answer to every problem we have? Considering we're experts in Tech and we usually still have some big problems in our life, I would deduce it isn’t an end all solution.
While isolation and loneliness are some of the top issues most Technologist’s have, AI girlfriends and more online forums won’t eradicate those problems for us, and they most likely never will.
I want to save as many Tech Geniuses as I can. It’s my calling in life. I think you’re just great people, smart, intuitive and loyal to a fault. The Stereotype of the Nerds having no social skills and no value to offer other than being Computer Repair Monkeys is completely false and plain disrespectful to our contributions. Keep trying to make the world you live in a better place. I’ll take the burden of making that a worth while endeavor.
