The Good, The Bad, The Ugly of Online Communities
and a Black Friday Deal you won't want to miss...
I’ve been on the Internet for a long time. Longer than most of Gen Z has been alive. I remember the AOL Dialup Sound like it was yesterday, I remember using NetZero to get my free 40 hours of Dialup internet Access as long as saw tons of ads on their dumb floating banner. I was there when Cable Internet came out in 1995 and I was floored by how fast I could download anything I ever wanted from then on without having to leave my computer on all night.
They say you become an expert on something after spending 10,000 hours doing the thing. If that’s the case, I’m a Web Browsing Expert 10 Times over. Next would my time spent playing Video Games, then followed by time spent watching Star Wars.
Throughout my lengthy and illustrious Internet Browser Career, I’ve been a part of many online communities, probably a few too many. I was one of the first to be on Myspace. I was always finding myself reading Tom’s Hardware Forum, and spending most of my school computer lab time reading Ebaumsworld after I finished the keyboarding period classwork in like 2 minutes. It’s safe to say I know a thing or two about what makes online communities great. I also developer an insane superpower to tell exactly why they suck and with it I can always predict when they are going down a road that will end in there obsolescence.
With all that experience, I should know by now how to build a community that will stand the test of time, a community that would truly help their members. A Community united by their love of tech, but also help them with their struggles as they try to make sense of the world just like the rest of us.
That’s what we’re doing here and why you’re reading this now. The path forward is create THE most unstoppable Tech Community ever created. As so many in our industry have been laid off recently, in this troubled economy, it’s time for us to come together and help the others like us. Loneliness, especially during the holidays, must be eradicated from within ourselves, and that can only happen if we reach out to those in need.
It’s my promise that in this Community, I will teach you every hard thing I’ve learned over the past 20 Years in Tech and help put you on the right path so that you can avoid my costly mistakes. Mistakes that could have even almost cost me my life at a point in time. I will do my best to help you succeed in your work life and also your personal life and relationships.
The Overarching Theme of Club 255 is Technology.
Learning New Technology, Experimenting with New Technology and Building new Technologies that will change the world.
As with all the other Basic Tech Communities who pose as helpful but really just became overpaid shills who unbox whatever free tech comes to their door, it becomes time to create the one true community. One full of people who know what it is like to be in tech trenches everyday, who need to become scrappy as hell as they try to keep the servers running, all while being severely underpaid, overworked and most of all, just plain tired of the way life is treating them nowadays.
So that’s what we’re gonna do with Club 255. We’ll become a help and support when all others server lights go out.
Our 3 part Mission will always be:
Stay Curious
Achieve Cognition
Experience Collaboration
We’ll be the best version of ourselves we know we can be and we’ll help ourselves be part of a Tech Community that not only cares, but will save you time, money and most of all, improve your relationship with other people on your Journey in this so called Life.
