Every time I was asked to fix something as an IT guy for someone, I never had the feeling that this problem will never come up again.

Why you might ask? Because it ALWAYS came back up. The employee NEVER learned their lesson. It’s like IT people were hired with the express purpose to “Give a Man a Fish, Feed him for a Day and never ever try and teach them how to fish, because the customer is always right and what do we even pay you for!”

"When everything's broken, the Boss asks: What am I even paying you for?!
"When everything's working, the Boss asks: What am I even paying you for?!

It’s really got to stop. People need to get better. People can’t just throw money to solve their problems over and over again. You wonder why IT people make fun of the Technically Disinclined? It’s because they give of themselves day in and day out in the hope that what they fix will stay fixed or that the user might end up actually fixing their own problem for once.

How much real appreciation do we give our janitors for keeping our workplaces clean? It’s about the same amount of praise given for IT workers who keep our Company Systems up and running, barely any recognition, and we’re all pretty tired of it… So show some love to your IT Person today. They deserve it…
