This guy was hiring for an Entry level IT job. The pay was something like $16/hr for basic helpdesk troubleshooting position. He was asking for 6 years experience with a Bachelors Degree or Multiple Certifications. So basically the skills of a Senior IT Team Member with the pay of a Mcdonald’s Fast Food Worker.
Seriously, what has become of our industry?
When you get into management, don’t be this guy. Sure, you might have to do the best you can with a lean budget. Sure, you’ll have to work with what you got and be super scrappy most of the time, but this is more a company culture problem than the actual industry problem. It tells us that they think “in this economy” it’s ok to take advantage of IT people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Don’t settle for any of it, you are worth more than you realize.
Until Tomorrow,
