“If you don't know how to execute, every strategy will fail, even the most promising ones. As one of my former bosses observed: “No strategy is better than its execution.” -Frank Slootman (Amp it Up)
Being strategic means being prepared, but execution means making corrections along the way. Every project that you undertake will be better off if you strategize first, but the best way to do that is to find the best strategy, but make sure to adjust that strategy as you go to get better at the execution of your task, not to “refine the strategy”.
A Framework or Strategy just helps you when you have no idea what you’re doing, which, let’s face it, happens to most of us all the time. The real work is to make sure we keep executing on that strategy, otherwise all the books and leadership advice will mean nothing because you are doing nothing but planning and not doing.
Use this as a the way to figure out how to get things done, but don’t forget the most important part is to actually get things done.
