6+ Years ago, I quit my corporate job. I was burnout working as an IT guy. There were no promotions looking ahead, my health was failing and I just didn’t want to do it anymore. The repetitiveness of the tasks over 7 years at my current position was getting to me. With nowhere to go, I just had to quit. I used the excuse to be a stay at home dad for awhile and raise my kids and recover. That was 6+ years ago. I’m still in the same position. I’ve learned a lot, practiced a lot of writing and I’ve enjoyed myself being there for my kids and raising them.
I wholeheartedly believe that we live life in phases. They are different for everyone, but the structure is usually the same. We constantly look for stability, and when we find it, we hold on to it as long as possible, even longer than we should. We Burnout, and very few of us recognize it. We just stay burnout, like the frog relaxing in the warm water on the stove, until the heat gets turned up and we don’t notice and the frog ends up cooked.
The Phoenix has been a symbol of the very innate need and human desire of it’s pattern of life. The phoenix must burn up and die, in order for it to be reborn. We relate that process to giving up on a Career or Lifestyle that no longer serves us. We usually have to be at a breaking point, under tremendous pressure of soulless work to “die” and leave our current situation. Rebirth begins only when you admit that you have a problem, and will only be fueled by the action you take to heal yourself
My rebirth has centered around this newsletter for so long, but I haven’t been able to figure out how I can appeal this principle to the masses. Growth on it has slowed to a crawl, and it feels like it’s time for another rebirth. If this newsletter has helped you in anyway, please reply with a thought or a like, because honestly, I have no idea if it’s truly been a help to anyone.
Until Tomorrow I Guess,
