Distress we are all familiar with. It’s negative stress, it’s anxiety, it’s depressions, it’s a feeling of hopelessness. Eustress however is different. It is positive stress. It’s the stress you feel while learning something. It’s motivating, it can help you achieve things in your Career or at Home. It could be the stress of preparing for a competition or having your first job interview or even starting a new job.
When you feel too much distress over a long period of time, that eustress you once felt can turn unto distress. When you feel stuck in your job but unable to leave for a better opportunity, you feel distress all the time, you aren’t growing because you’re not feeling that eustress anymore.
So the key is to recognize when one starts to turn into another, and stop it, change it, do something different to not allow it to go in that direction any further. It’s a whole lot easier to get back where you need to the earlier you get off the train.
