We all just want someone to Listen to Us
It's a primal, basic need
Sometimes Techies have a hard time with conversation. We’re awkward, weird and usually very introverted, so it’s hard to put ourselves out there. But when it comes down to it, there’s only one thing you need to keep the conversation going, listen with the intent to understand, and repeat what you correctly understood.
When someone knows you’re listening to them, the gravitate toward you. Not many people in our lives truly listen to what we have to say. Inquiring more and more about what might be bothering them, what problems they are having, who else might be causing them problems could turn to solving their original problem, they just wanted someone to listen to them and value their opinion.
So practice active listening, you don’t have to do much and it’s what people talking to us really wanted anyways.
