“Never quit something with great long-term potential just because you can’t deal with the stress of the moment.” “The Dip creates scarcity; scarcity creates value” -Seth Godin
There’s two types of pain incurred when you are trying to achieve something. There is the Pain of Learning and the Pain of Insanity. The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different Results. If you are in your Job and hate it and you don’t do anything about but just keep going with the flow, you’ll hate it tomorrow and you’ll hate it next month and you’ll keep hating it next year.
However, the Pain of Learning is much more useful. If you’re going through a particularly rough patch of life and it’s hard and you’re learning valuable lessons and trying to recover, that’s a benefit to you. Experience adds value to us, especially hard things we take one or choose to do.
So if you’re in the Valley of Despair (Or the Dip) and you remember you’re vision and how you don’t want to feel crappy for not doing anything in your life worth doing, just keep going. Learn to recognize these two types of pain. If you are experiencing the Pain of Learning, know you should keep going. If you are experiencing the Pain of Insanity, quit it, right the heck now.
