The Joy of Artistic Creation is the only hope we have left.
It’s funny how everyone want’s to use ChatGPT to produce endless content, but no one actually want’s to read content they know came from ChatGPT.
It’s like eating “Mystery Meat” at the Cafeteria. Sure it would fill our stomachs because we’re starving, but what’s the cost of not truly understanding the origin of what you are consuming?
But for me, I love a Good Mystery. I love trying things out, experiencing things, pushing it around my plate over and over again to see if I can figure out what it is. It’s glaringly obvious to me whodunnit in almost any Mystery Novel or TV Show Episode within a minute of meeting the person whodunnit. Can you relate? Does this sound familiar to you?
I love Mysteries because they are just big balls of pure joyful experiences just waiting for you to solve them.
But there is no Mystery to AI, not yet at least. Computations are 100% Logical, as Spock can attest to. It’s as immutable as Physics like the Earth spinning around the sun.
It’s fairly easy to find something was written by AI, especially a Copy/Paste throw up onto a twitter post with no editing and 2 hashtags (No one uses Hashtags on Twitter/X anymore). What I crave and look for each day I’m online is True Human Insight and Connection.
It’s glaringly obvious when someone writes something from their soul, and also glaringly obvious when someone takes someone else’s tweet and asks ChatGPT to rewrite it and immediately put’s it up as their own.
I don’t mind letting a robot cook for me. I don’t even mind letting it sweep and mop my house for me, Thanks Rosie! (Rosie is my Roomba and I adore her!) However, I draw the line at letting a robot write for me, to let it create for me, they are tools and I will always only regard them as such (Sorry Wall-E).
We put a lot of our mind’s energy into our entertainment, we relate our lives to things we watch, because they are stories that inspire us to be the hero’s of our own stories.
There’s a scene in Ironman 2 where Tony Stark is trying to solve a mystery his Dad left him. He finds an old Video of his Dad saying that “The Future is Here”, while alluding to a floorplan model of his Company’s World’s Fair. Tony, with the power of his Jarvis AI, Tony asks questions to help him understand the model in front of him.
He goes on to discover a new Element which has the capability to power his suit better, prevent his heart from getting more damaged and it ends up becoming a big discovery in all his future technologies. AI didn’t discover the Element for him, technically his Dad did, but it was AI that acted as the tool to finally bring that technology into the world.
That is where I think the true value of AI lies. It will give the Picasso’s and DaVinci’s and Tony Starks of this generation, the tools, the freedom and most importantly the means to create new things that were never before thought possible, things that will likely change our world for good.
Will the Tech Industry and their precious Social Media Networks be able to stand the test of the AI Spam Wave to come? They extract our attention and the value from that and give what back in return? More Ads, more selling of our data? People are already dropping off Social Networks in droves. They’re mad because they are enticed to spend hours scrolling through algorithmically chosen Short Form Videos, which only end up making you feel horrible after 2 hours of doom scrolling.
AI has the potential to be a great assistant to creative work and it wants nothing in return except the electricity to run itself, it doesn’t want to show you more ads, it doesn’t want to manipulate you into buying this phone over that phone, it simply wants to help you find the answer you’re looking for.
The Tech Industry has dug it’s own grave with LLM’s. I believe however a Digital Renaissance can and will take it’s place, forged by the Authentic and Good Natured Solo Creators of this world. Those who take responsibility for their own tribe and treat them like a Mother Hen treats her chicks, leading, guiding, walking beside them and helping them find their way in this crazy Tech Universe we live in.
We’re going to be doing a lot of live streaming as a Club as I try to make this a tribe worth spending time in. Would you follow me on Twitch and/or TikTok so we can do cool stuff together? Thank You for all you do! Here’s to both of us getting the success we deserve!
